Farm files for SnapPlus (.snapDb files) are handled via standard file management using File Explorer. Some functions like opening a farm can be done from both within SnapPlus and from File Explorer. Other functions are exclusively done with File Explorer. These include making copies of the files to and from a thumb drive, zipping files and making back-ups to other drives. You can attach the .snapDb farm file to an email; note that if you zip the file first (in Windows Explorer, right click on the file, Send to | Compressed (Zipped) Folder or use File | Archive in SnapPlus) it will typically be 1/3 the size of the original.
1.Select File on the menu bar. 2.Select New SnapPlus database farm (Ctrl+N). 3.Select the folder for the new farm file and enter the new farm file name, usually the farm's name, and click Accept. |
See SnapPlus Basics for 4 ways you can open SnapPlus farms and what methods allow for multiple farms to be open. |
You can use the Windows Search to find your SnapPlus farm files by searching for files that end in ".snapDb". ▪Open up a new File Explorer window (windows key + E on the keyboard) and click on C: drive. ▪Then put "*.snapDb" into the search box on the upper right. If you have more hard drives, then you can select them as well and search again.
You may also go to View | Settings | Show Duplicate Farms. ▪Show Duplicate Farms will display the paths saved in your farm database. If there is more than one path it means that this farm was moved from its original location. ▪After selecting Close you will be prompted to find all of the SnapPlus files on your computer. This could take more than five minutes especially if you have multiple drives.

An automatic daily backup can help you recover seemingly lost data. A backup file will be created in the Archive folder the first time a farm is opened each day. This backup should not replace using File | Save snapshot or the using the Save Snapshot button often. To restore: •Rename or move the original farm file. •Double click on the file name ending in "BAK.zip". •Verify that you will see your farm database file "YourFarmName.snapDb". •Drag and drop the file ending in ".snapDb"s out of the zip file and into the same folder as the original farm file. •Right mouse click on the file and select Properties. Make sure Read-only check box is not checked |
How to manage your snapshot files |
You may manage your snapshots from the Tools | Utilities | Manage snapshots menu. Options: ▪Change snapshot purge limit - Set the maximum number of snapshots that will be saved for each farm. After reaching this limit the older snapshot files will be removed. ▪Select dates to delete - Remove snapshot files created during a particular date interval. ▪Change snapshot warning interval (10 minutes) - The range is from <off> to 60 minutes. After you exceed this limit for one session, the Save Snapshot text on the button will turn red.
