As with any website, the performance of SnapMaps varies depending on internet speed, internet response time, the number of users on the site, and other factors. SnapMaps may be responding quickly at one time, and slowly at another. If you are having problems with SnapMaps keep the following tips in mind:
.SnapMaps is a website. Whenever you interact with SnapMaps a request is sent from your computer to the server, processed, and then sent back. Downloading, uploading, drawing, editing, deleting, and moving around the map all take time. Give the requests some time to complete.
.Refreshing the page can help resolve some problems. Sometimes a fresh load of the page can fix issues you are having. Common issues include: the loading box not clearing after some time, your fields or features disappearing, layers not loading, and tools not working correctly. Your work is saved automatically, so refreshing usually has no effect on your fields.
.Your internet speed matters. If you have a slow connection, SnapMaps will respond more slowly. Additionally, heavy load on your local network, whether due to you or other users, can affect SnapMaps. If SnapMaps seems to be responding slowly try closing other programs on your computer, or other computers on your network.
.The number of users on the SnapMaps site affects performance. Heavy load on the server can slow down response times. If you are experiencing poor response times, sometimes coming back to the site at a different time can speed up performance. Even a few minutes may result in a change in performance.
.Try a different browser. Sometimes internet browsers behave differently on certain websites. Some perform better on certain sites than others. If you are having performance issues, a different browser may fix the problem.
